Movie Scenario for Hawkman and Hawkwoman by Tim Board

   Over the years, I've watched many superhero movies and TV shows. There were even rare occasions when Hawkman and Hawkgirl appeared. It was a thrill to see them fly across the screen, and I often imagined what kind of stories I would like to see my heroes in. At the same time, I wanted to introduce both the human and Thanagarian versions of Hawkman to the casual fans who are not so familiar with the characters. This is no easy feat, but the following scenario is something I thought up a few years ago. I'm no movie writer, so this may be easily scoffed at and discarded. There are no teenage hallway fights, no heroes reluctant to use their powers, no kids with asthma, no heroes yelling about not killing, no sidekick kids with skateboards or plot armor, no one out for revenge, or cute animals to grab a few laughs. Just straight-up hero action from one scene to the next. A fan can dream, and this is one of the ways I thought would be fun to introduce the magic that is Hawkworld.

DC Comics Solicitations November 2026 for Hawkman and Hawkgirl

   DC Comics released the solicitations for November 2026 on Friday. Hawkman appears on two covers, but he is not listed as a character in either comic. Hawkgirl and Hawkwoman don't appear in the solicitations. The wait continues.

Tier List Ranking System for Hawkman/Hawkgirl Comics Reviews

 Hawkworld will be starting a new comic review for Hawkman and Hawkgirl comics! And what's a review without a good tier system to rate the comics? I made a new tier-list ranking system worthy of Hawkworld comics to add at the end of every review, so look for the reviews and the rating I give each comic going forward! There's no better place to begin than at the start, so I'll be posting a review of Hawkman's debut story in Flash Comics No. 1 (January 1940). Feel free to post your agreements, disagreements, and opinions in the comments! 

Hawkman/Hawkgirl Comic Tier List 2026

 

Here's my updated Tier List for Hawkman/Hawkgirl comics. The top five series are absolutely essential for comics fans. The stories and the art are top-notch. The best of the best. The A-ranked series are also very good, and I definitely recommend them. The art in every series is the best out there, but the writing suffers a bit for various reasons. I may have had Vol. 4 up in the S-rank back in the day, but it hasn't aged well. The art remains the best, though. 

New Hawkworld Feature: Finding Current Appearances

 One of the goals for Hawkworld is to give Hawkfans a way to find the comics featuring Hawkman, Hawkwoman, and Hawkgirl. You often have to go over the solicitations with a fine-tooth comb several times to find comics with the Hawks. Even that is usually not enough. There are several ways, but here is one method that you can use to find the Winged Wonders in the comics.

DC Comics Solicitations September 2026 for Hawkman and Hawkgirl

    DC Comics' solicitations for September 2026 have been released. There were zero mentions of Hawkman, Hawkwoman, or Hawkgirl in any of the current issues, but I managed to find Hawkman on a couple of covers and a double-mention of a Hawkman comic in a DC Finest book. Also, there was no mention of him, but Absolute Hawkman's recent appearances are in Absolute Superman. Wish there was more to report, but that's it for September. The wait continues. Keep soaring, Hawkfans! 

 

Rating the Hawkman/Hawkgirl Comics: Let the Debates Begin!

   Rating the Hawkman Comics! I approach this project with a bit of hesitation and preparation to accept some chastisement from some fellow Hawkfans, including myself. I say this because we all have differing opinions on the comics that have remained in our hearts over the years, so if someone sees how I have relegated their favorite series to Fair or below, they have every right to tell me to stick where the sun doesn't shine. I'll probably ask myself what the seven hells I was thinking when I look at the chart again tomorrow. There are some I will probably fold like a cheap napkin after a short debate. But then there are some series where I will stand steadfast in my belief as long as there are some comic critics who will continue to proclaim that Hawkman is confusing. I'll give just a short reason for each series to explain why I put it where it is. Let the debates begin!

DC Comics' Thanagar Confusion

   DC Comics has a Thanagar problem. Or to put it more accurately, Thanagar has a DC Comics problem. The apparent lack of vision and planning for Thanagar is truly baffling. In this article, I'll try to explain what is going on with the current Thanagar. But it isn't easy because DC Comics either has no real plan, or they just aren't explaining it enough for the comics fans, and more importantly, for the Hawkfans to know what in the seven hells is going on. But I'll give it a shot.

Ten Pillars for a Great Hawkman and Hawkwoman Series

   Hawkman and Hawkwoman/Hawkgirl have the foundation any writer would need to create a great story and series. Over the last 87 years,  the story and legend of the Hawks have been greatly expanded. Many characters, places, items, and theories have been introduced, but very few have been allowed to become the rock-solid base that other major DC characters enjoy. Writers like Gardner Fox, Tony Isabella, Timothy Truman, John Ostrander, Geoff Johns, and Robert Venditti have given us many stories that are the pillars of the Hawks' legend. Here are the ten basic pillars, in my opinion, that any writer could and should expand on to create some amazing stories and adventures for Hawkman and Hawkwoman.

80th Anniversary Montage by Tim Board

   On April 25, 1941, an iconic character was created by legendary writer Gardner Fox. Shiera Sanders started out as Hawkman/Carter Hall's love interest and supporting character, but that's not how the story ended. Eighteen months after Shiera's first appearance in Flash Comics No. 1 in November 1939, she put on the Hawk costume for the first time to help Hawkman trick some criminals. That was the small beginning, but it gradually became something much, much bigger. Over the years, Hawkgirl has evolved from a "sidekick" to Hawkman's equal, and even superior in many cases. Thanks to her appearances on TV cartoons and in the movies, her popularity may even be greater than Hawkman's. That's a testament to her rich history, her many interpretations over the years, and a fascination that many writers, artists, creators, and directors have had with a superheroine with beautiful wings, a wicked mace, a bad-ass attitude that doesn't fool around, and an ability to step out of Hawkman's shadow and become her own character.

Looking Back at Hawkworld 2025

   The Year 2025 is coming to a close, so it's time to take a look back at some of Hawkworld's highlights and lowlights of the year. Hawkman, Hawkgirl, and even Hawkwoman continued to appear in comics here and there throughout the year, including the JSA series, some unannounced cameos, and a few covers and variant covers. Hawkgirl made her silver screen debut in Superman, the horrid Absolute Hawkman appeared, and the wait for a Hawkman series entered its sixth year. I've made a list of highs and lows for the year.
