New Hawkworld Feature: Finding Current Appearances

 One of the goals for Hawkworld is to give Hawkfans a way to find the comics featuring Hawkman, Hawkwoman, and Hawkgirl. You often have to go over the solicitations with a fine-tooth comb several times to find comics with the Hawks. Even that is usually not enough. There are several ways, but here is one method that you can use to find the Winged Wonders in the comics. League of Comic Geeks is one of my go-to sites for comics info. One of their features is a list of the recent comics for each character. It's pretty basic and easy to check out. Their page for the new comics that came out this week in July looks like this.

Click on the comic to find the creators, the characters who appear in the movie, and all the variants as they come out. There's even a comment section for those who want to discuss the comic. 

Here's how to find the most recent comics featuring the character you want (including cameos). Click SEARCH near the top left corner and then type HAWKMAN (for example), and you get a page like this.

This page lists all the Hawkman-titled series. On the top of the page, there is a link titled CHARACTERS. For Hawkman, it says Characters 56. This means that there are 56 versions of Hawkman listed here. For comparison, the Batman page says Characters 324. And people say Batman is confusing. (lol) Anyhow, click CHARACTERS, and you get this page.

Here you get each version of Hawkman that has appeared in the comics. The current Hawkman in the mainstream is the Earth-0 version. If you click the picture, you come to the page we are looking for. 

At the top of the page, the four most recent issues are listed. You can check which comics are actual appearances and not cameos, which is extremely helpful. Sadly, the Hawks are not being used very much lately, except for the constant cameo appearances or covers that have nothing to do with the story inside. Maybe this can help Hawk fans find what they are looking for. 

I've added a feature on the blog to help Hawks go to these pages directly. On the right side of the blog, you can see the logos for each current Hawk character. Just click the logo of the character you want to see. For now, I've listed the three on Earth-0; Hawkman (Carter Hall), Hawkwoman (Shayera Hol), Hawkgirl (Kendra Saunders). I have also added the Earth-Alpha Absolute Hawkman (Carter Hall) so you can keep an eye on that character as well. Clicking the logo will take you straight to the LoCG page.

I'm always searching for Hawkman and Hawkgirl information, and League of Comic Geeks has been one of the sites I always check. I hope this helps you find what you are looking for!
