"Clearly Justice League will set up the plans for a larger team and a roster that could include Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter, and Hawkman. While Hawkman is one of #DC's lesser-known heroes and the studio clearly expanding their film slate, never say never to a Hawkman solo-film. If not, a winged wonder would still make a great addition to any of DC's upcoming #superhero films."

Michael Shanks as Hawkman from SmallvilleHawkman is, easily, one of the most confusing heroes in DC’s line-up. The character is full of contradicting backstories, powers and motivations. Yet DC nearly moved ahead with a movie with the confusing hero at the center back in 2011, putting him ahead of other more popular characters like Wonder Woman, Aquaman and The Flash.The logline for the movie was nearly as complicated as the character itself being described, as “Indiana Jones meets The Da Vinci Code meets Ghost.” This makes slightly more sense when it’s considered that Carter Hall AKA Hawkman has usually been depicted as a constantly reincarnated hero that dates back to Ancient Egypt.Still, unsurprisingly, the movie never moved past the development stage. Carter Hall’s only live-action appearances amount to two very underwhelming television roles on Legends of Tomorrow and Smallville. Some things work better on the page than the screen and, for now, Hawkman seems to be one of them. |

Sometime in the mid-20th Century, Hawkman and Hawkgirl were so obsessed by the strange Nth Metal and the stories they've been told that they formed a team of scientists and adventurers to study it all. Included in the group was the Blackhawks, the Challengers of the Unknown, Red Tornado, and the Metal Men.Hawkman operated from Blackhawk Island, a place in a hidden pocket from space-time. It took him decades to build the technology needed, but he and his friends eventually were ready to send a team to the "other side" by utilizing Nth Metal.
Very little has been teased about the future of Hawkman, but from the few details we have, it’s possible that the version of the character that Geoff Johns established over a decade ago is coming back. The Hawkman on the cover of Hawkman Found looks like Johns’ Hawkman. Kendra Saunders has returned. And now Onimar Synn is back.We don’t know where or when the answers to Metal, the Dark Multiverse, or Hawkman will all be answered, but the reappearance of Onimar Synn could play a major role in connecting everything.Article Link
Hi. I just wanted to share a story about Gardner Fox, if you don’t mind. He was my grandfather. When I was 9 years old he came to Grandparents Day at school. He went to law school but found the practice unfulfilling. He told my class that he watched a bird 🦅 di dive and snatch something from the ground- and he thought that’s what Justice should look like. Hawkman was published just six months before my father was born.

"What still could be the wild card in all of this is Hawkman and Hawkwoman’s role in the story. Though Kendra ended up being pushed to the background for most of Dark Nights: Metal #3 she still made her presence known. Snyder is doing a good job in having Kendra try to assert her authority by reminding everyone that she has lived many lives and has the most experience. This turn makes her come off as an important part to what the Justice League are doing, while also keeping whatever Hawkman is up to hovering over the story."

"As much as Dark Nights: Metal #2 was about the search for Batman, Snyder did a nice job continuing to build on Hawkman and Hawkwoman’s role in the story. Seeing Kendra interact with the other Immortals of the DC Universe was a good way to re-introduce the Legion of Doom. ...This scene with the Immortals also help build on the mystery of whatever Hawkman is doing with the Challengers of the Unknown. It’s clear with how Kendra mentioned that she destroyed Prince Khufu’s tomb a long time ago that there is more that she and Carter aren’t telling anyone. What that is exactly will make the moment that Hawkman re-appears even more important to the outcome of Dark Nights: Metal."

Many other DC Comics characters will appear in the show, including Adam Strange and Hawkwoman. Geoff Johns confirmed the classic characters' presence in the new show during the Krypton panel at San Diego Comic-Con. Adam Strange is an archeologist who was teleported to the planet Rann via the Zeta-Beam. Hawkwoman has had many different iterations over the years, including Shayera Hol and Sharon Parker. Shayera Hol was a Thanagarian warrior reincarnated throughout the ages alongside her Hawkman counterpart Katar Hol. Given that Strange is a representative of Rann while Hawkwoman hails from Thanagar, Krypton could reference the Rann-Thanagar War, as portrayed in the Infinite Crisis event.

"Hawkman not being in Dark Nights: Metal #1 also makes the character come off as a much greater legend."
"Dark Nights: Metal #1 also does a great job in building up Hawkman and Hawkwoman as intriguing characters. As important as the characters are to DC’s history both Hawkman and Hawkwoman have had a tough time gaining a big following. A lot of that has to do with the fact that the Hawk’s have incredibly complicated histories that makes them hard to grasp."
"Seeing how both Hawkman and Hawkwoman have been leading an organization known as “The Immortals” that includes the likes of Ra’s Al Ghul added to what Batman is doing. This fact instantly creates interesting in the role of Hawkman and Hawkwoman, two characters that I’ve never been interested in. Snyder clearing up a lot of the confusion that surrounds both characters has been a big plus in giving the characters some momentum. Their role in all of this is still a mystery as they seem to be on the opposite side of the same board that Batman is playing on."
