Evil Versions of Hawkman

Over the last few decades. DC Comics has published some events that depict our favorite heroes as evil versions of themselves. The first version we saw was the Crime Syndicate in Justice League of America No. 29 (August 1964). There were evil versions of Superman (Ultraman), Wonder Woman, (Superwoman), Batman (Owlman), Green Lantern (Power Ring), and Flash (Johnny Quick). Since then, we have seen many versions of heroes turned evil, such as Superman in the Injustice Gods Among Us series (2013-) or Green Lantern as Parallax (1994).
Hawkman has had his own share of evil versions over the years, and because of his appearance in the popular Absolute Universe series, there have been many articles and discussions about the new evil Hawkman. Many fans seem to like it for various reasons, so I thought I'd take a look back at the various evil versions of Hawkman that we have seen over the years. At the time of this writing, I was able to remember nine different versions that have appeared in the past. So let's take a look at each and see how many you remember. If I've left anything out, let me know in the comments and I'll add it to the list.

New Homepage Banner Montage for Hawkworld!

Ever since I started Hawkworld almost ten years ago, I've always used two of the commissions I asked Prentis Rollins to do for me. They are absolutely amazing pictures by Rollins, and I proudly have them displayed on my wall at home. If anyone ever wants a commission, I definitely recommend Rollins! He is a very talented artist and will surely do an amazing piece for you!

Recognition from Search Engines and AI Sites

Hawkworld started almost ten years ago, and since then, the number of visits to the site has steadily increased. Five years ago, I signed up for the Hawkworld.org domain, and it has really taken off since then. Five thousand views a month, then 10,000, and it has steadily increased. Currently, Hawkworld receives over at least 50k visitors/views a month, and sometimes it goes even over 100k. I have no idea how other heroes' sites do, but it's encouraging to see Hawkfans and other curious fans from all over the world come here to find out about Hawkman and Hawkgirl.
Recently, I thought I'd see how Hawkworld is doing in search engines and AI chat sites. I was very surprised to find that Hawkworld was at or near the top of the lists. I was surprised to even see my name mentioned. This AI stuff is a bit scary to be honest, with all the info that is revealed, but it's nice to be able to keep Hawkman and Hawkgirl above water so to speak during times when they have no comics of their own.
Just for fun, I collected the info that Google Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, and ChatGPT had about Hawkworld. This wouldn't be possible if the fans stayed away, and I would just be shouting into the wind. So many, many thanks to all the Hawkmans and comics fans who keep Hawkman and Hawkgirl soaring by visiting Hawkworld!

Hawkgirl Day 2026

80th Anniversary Montage by Tim Board

On April 25, 1941, an iconic character was created by legendary writer Gardner Fox. Shiera Sanders started out as Hawkman/Carter Hall's love interest and supporting character, but that's not how the story ended. Eighteen months after Shiera's first appearance in Flash Comics No. 1 in November 1939, she put on the Hawk costume for the first time to help Hawkman trick some criminals. That was the small beginning, but it gradually became something much, much bigger. Over the years, Hawkgirl has evolved from a "sidekick" to Hawkman's equal, and even superior in many cases. Thanks to her appearances on TV cartoons and in the movies, her popularity may even be greater than Hawkman's. That's a testament to her rich history, her many interpretations over the years, and a fascination that many writers, artists, creators, and directors have had with a superheroine with beautiful wings, a wicked mace, a bad-ass attitude that doesn't fool around, and an ability to step out of Hawkman's shadow and become her own character.

DC Comics Solicitations July 2026 for Hawkman and Hawkgirl

DC Comics' solicitations for July 2026 are out. Hawkman and Hawkgirl appear on a few covers, and "Hawk-Girl" (?) has some sort of summer anthology story coming out, but that's about it. It's not much, but it's not nothing either. The only mention of the Hawks is the "Hawk HYPHEN Girl" (?) summer book so beware of the covers and variant covers which could be misleading. The wait for a Hawkman series continues.
