A few months before this issue came out, the series was titled "Out of Time," but right before it was released, the name was changed to "Death of Hawkman." Oh, great. They are killing Hawkman. Again. (snore) This series brought the end to the story of the Savage Hawkman who had been around since 2011. Soon after this series ended, the current Hawkman, Hawkgirl, and Hawkwoman appeared on the scene, and they have been around more or less ever since.

Hawkman resigns from the Justice League! And Green Arrow's true feelings about Hawkman are revealed.
In Justice League of America No. 109, Hawkman announces that he has received orders from Thanagar and that he and Shayera must return to Thanagar immediately. Surprisingly, the one most shaken up by the news is Green Arrow. When Eclipso suddenly appears, Green Arrow asks that he and Hawkman be teamed up, which surprises even the almighty Batman.
During their outing, Green Arrow keeps throwing insults at Hawkman, like "Ol' Feather-face" or "Buzzard Beak," which Hawkman just shrugs off. Later, it is time for Hawkman to leave and Green Arrow is nowhere to be found. Black Canary finds him staring off into space and...crying?! This is the kind of relationship I wish the writers at DC had established; an odd couple always bickering with each other, but deep down, they truly care for one another. It's a shame that it got all hateful and ominous.

On October 1, 2025, the Absolute Universe's version of Hawkman appeared for the first time in Absolute Evil No. 1. He was carrying the body of Oliver Queen, whom he had just killed. In the past year, he has appeared in the Absolute Superman series. The writing of Jason Aaron has proven to be popular among many Hawkfans, and they are anxiously awaiting what lies ahead for this character. Will he show up again? What do you think of this character?
Here's the Absolute Hawkman page if you want to check all his appearances!
HA HA HA! Hey, did you catch in Lanterns that John Stewart is from Midway City? Here we go with another tease......
ReplyDeleteThere have been way too many teases and even all-out announcements. Remember Hawkwoman in Krypton. Yeah, me neither. These sort of empty Easter eggs do nothing for me anymore. Let me know when the characters actually show up.
DeleteI get it....a long time suffering fan. But I saw some rumors on the net, probably just wishful thinking of course.....
DeleteYou need a bit of a sense of humor to make it as a Hawkfan.
DeleteThat's a cool pic!
ReplyDeleteI missed that! Is that the cover or a splashpage? I want that on my wall! It's so GAS
ReplyDeletei wish DC can give us hawkwoman too, so we can see the hawks couple again
ReplyDeleteWeird that DC uses Hawkman and Hawkgirl in 2 movies but doesn't bother with a new comic for either of them. I just don't get it.
ReplyDeleteIt's very frustrating but what can you do? DC's focus is on Batman and the Trinity. Maybe we'll get another show someday.
DeleteI hope this Hawkman drought isn't as long as the one between Hawkman/Atom and Shadow War
ReplyDelete15 years! We're almost halfway there! lol
