We Got This Covered: DCEU's Justice Society vs. Justice League

In the DCEU, which superhero team would win if they went up against each other; the Justice Society or the Justice League? In this match up, we have Zack Snyder's Justice League going up against Black Adam's Justice Society (plus Shazam). If you have 100 writers write this article, you would probably get 100 different results, but We Got This Covered put out an article by Ash Martinez who bravely gave us her own answer of how this battle would end. Hawkman and Batman are pitted together in the matchups. After reading an article that listed Batman as the most powerful DC character 😅, it was nice to see someone write with a bit more common sense and thought. Any article that puts Hawkman over Batman gets a thumbs up for me. To see how Hawkman defeats Batman, and the result of the overall battle, go check out the link

CBR: The DCU Hawkgirl Has an Opportunity to Rectify a DCAU Mistake

Finally. I've been waiting for someone to write this article, and CBR's Timothy Donohoo did it. The Justice League cartoon was popular, but it made an absolute mess of Hawkman. The show practically ripped everything good about him away to prop up their Hawkgirl-John Stewart romance. Thanks to this horrible version of Hawkman, many kids who grew up in the 2000s learned to love Hawkgirl but hate Hawkman. The only good thing this cartoon gave the Hawks was Hawkgirl's first costume, which is a classic look, but they even took that away and replaced it with a yellow jumpsuit. Let's hope the DCU stays far, far away from the DCAU version and bring the Hawks back together as they should be. Many thanks to Donohoo for writing this article.

CBR Article: DC Comics with the Best Fan Service

We got an interesting article by Ashley Land of CBR. Here she has put together a list of comics that gave fans what they wanted, and it's a great list. Of course, Hawkman is in there! It's the usual light reading and doesn't go real deep, but it's good to see the Hawkman series recognized. And it truly did satisfy a lot of Hawkfans! Check out the article here

Hawkgirl #1 by Jadzia Axelrod and Amancay Nahuelpan has been released and the reviews are coming in! ComicBook Round Up is a site that collects reviews from critics and site users. Currently, the critics have given the book a rating of 7.9, but the users' rating is at 2.9. Personally, I gave it a 7/10. You can check out all the reviews here

Hawkgirl #1 Review by Tim Board

The new Hawkgirl series has finally begun and it's a whole new Hawkgirl/Kendra Saunders. Kendra has gone through many changes over the years like any other character; the reluctant hero trying to find her own destiny, the confident former Lady Blackhawk who became an important and powerful member of the Justice League, and now a mature hero is trying to find her own place again after the end of the Justice League.

Who is this Hawkgirl? Let's start from there. When Shiera Saunders-Hall died, her soul was reincarnated into two beings; Shayera Hol, also known as Hawkwoman, and Kendra Saunders, the current Hawkgirl. Let's take a quick look at Kendra to understand where she is coming from.

DCU Hawkgirl: Isabela Merced

Big Announcement from DCU James Gunn!

There was big news in Hawkworld today: in a surprise announcement, we found out that Isabela Merced was cast as Hawkgirl for James Gunn's Superman Legacy. The Superman movie is scheduled to be released on July 11, 2025, which means we have a two-year wait before we see the first Hawkgirl to soar across the movie screen.
We have no details on what her role will be in the movie. Two other heroes were also announced with Hawkgirl: Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific and Nathan Fillion as GL Guy Gardner. This seems like a completely random, mishmash group of heroes who have all never been on the same team before, and how they come into Superman's story is anyone's guess. We'll have to wait for more details to come out as the release date gets closer. But James Gunn confirmed it himself on Instagram yesterday.

New Hawkworld Social Media: Threads

A new social media site took off yesterday, and I've wasted no time in adding Hawkworld to it. Threads by Meta is a bit different because I was able to bring over all of my followers on Instagram and invite them to join me so I didn't have to start from scratch like other sites. Hawkworld is already on Facebook and Instagram so might as well! If you have an Instagram site or just getting started on Threads, come give Hawkworld a follow! Address below!

Screen Rant Article Intro: DCEU Movies Chronologically & By Release Date

The DCEU as a whole has been a huge mess since it started careening off the tracks around the time when Batman Vs. Superman was released. Snyder ducking out of the Justice League because of a family tragedy and letting another director finish it up was never going to work. The Coronavirus stalled everything. Films were either canceled or constantly pushed back. Pushing back release dates can be tolerated, but needless to say, canceling projects after announcing them is a huge turnoff for fans. DC did/does/will do that way too much. It appears that they have a shallow commitment to their characters, fans, and plans.

During the whole process, they started something else on the side, but the side projects ended up being more successful than most of the main projects. If I were David Zazlav, I would have dropped all of it, looked at The Batman and Joker movies, and built my new universe around them. Announce two or three movies at a time. I would have never announced this chapter one schedule that everyone expects to be canceled sooner or later anyway. Marvel may be the day of superhero movies, so let DC be the night. Marvel can be Pg-13, so let DC take the R-rated movies. Make it a dark, serious, dramatic, and unforgettable universe. They need to keep people talking about the potential but instead, they keep letting us talk about the failures.

And here we are. Waiting for the last two lame duck movies to come out so we can get on with it in 2025. There was so much potential in the DCEU when Man of Steel came out, but they squandered it all away. That's what happens when you don't have faith in the source material or the fans.

Enough of my rant. I guess if I knew better that DC or Warner Brothers, I'd be sitting where Zazlav or James Gunn is sitting. We'll just have to trust they'll eventually get it right, or just leave it all behind. Screen Rant put out a helpful article to follow the DCEU in release dates and how they all fit together chronologically. Definitely gonna bookmark this article for future reference. Check it out! ScreenRant Article Link: Hawkgirl will be “The Best Comic Run Ever"

According to Jadzia Axelrod, the writer for the New Hawkgirl series,  the 6-issue series will be the greatest comic run of all time. That's a bold statement, but we'll find out soon enough. I'm still blocked from her Twitter account (No idea why. I've never talked to her or about her) but this tweet was posted on the Screen Rant article

CBR: 10 DC Comics That Still Need A Sequel

CBR lists 10 comics that deserve a sequel, and the Hawkman series by Robert Venditti is right in there. The series started out really great, but got derailed a bit by the ridiculous Year-of-the-Villain event in 2019-20. Venditti still was able to keep it going by bringing in Hawkwoman, Atom, and Adam Strange. The last six issues are just as good as the first 13. Vendiiti provided Hawkman and Hawkwoman with a huge setup that could have gone on for years, but DC prematurely ended it in November 2020. It's been almost three years since Hawkman has had his own title now. Hawkgirl (Kendra Saunders) will be getting her own title this month, so let's hope a Hawkman and Hawkwoman series is not far behind. As Venditti said in an interview, he left the toy box full, so let's hope a writer will take advantage of what Veditti left behind. Check out the article to see the other titles that need a sequel! Personally, I think it may be a long time and take a new generation to bring back DC. It feels like DC has blown up the bridge with the current generations.
