Nth Metal's Control of Gravity

We all know about the anti-gravity powers that Nth Metal gives the wearer. It's been revealed that the Nth metal is psycho-receptive and can control all the fundamental forces of the universe. I've mentioned this is posts and tweets before, but I have often wondered in the past if Nth metal could also increase the weight of something. Imagine the powers that would give Hawkman. We've seen them lift things like cars or airplanes with the Nth Metal, but what if they could make them super-heavy?

In Superman Batman Public Enemies, we saw a fight between Superman and Hawkman. Hawkman used his Claw of Horus and Superman was "hit with the core of the planet." This means Hawkman was able to...

...make his punch super heavy.

Superman/Batman #4 (January 2004

I remember Star Boy in the Legion of Super-heroes. His power was to make things super-heavy, which I thought could be a very powerful power if used in creative ways. What if Hawkman can do the same?

World's Finest Comics (April 1982)

Yesterday I was reading World's Finest Comics #278. This is the issue where Superman and Batman help Hawkman go over to Thanagar and overthrow Hyanthis to liberate his people. During the fight, there is a scene where Superman suddenly loses his ability to fly and falls out of the sky.

The Thanagarians have made a device that increases gravity and hit Superman with it. Because of the heavy gravity, he apparently loses his super-strength as well. Did they use Nth metal to create this weapon? Could Hawkman use it in the same way? Something that got me thinking again.

The Nth metal and its abiltities have barely been tapped by DC Comics, which seems like a huge oversight. I thought the Dark Night Metal series in 2018 would answer some of those questions and explore it, but it did not. Maybe someday a writer will truly explore what Gardner Fox invented way back in 1939.

Here's my list of the powers that the Nth metal provides. It's pretty fascinating and just waiting to be explored. Discovering Nth Metal by Tim Board
