Thanagar is going through things. Again. The planet has been destroyed, and Thanagarians are without a home. Again. Since Hawkman and Hawkwoman do not have their own book, it's a challenge to keep up with what is going on (thanks, DC), but I'm going to try to put together the info I can gather and keep up with the current situation in Thanagar.
Thanagar is one of the most famous planets in the DC Universe and it's a bit to see how the editors and writers there just randomly throw things about Thanagar all over the place, making it almost impossible to follow the story. If I'm missing any important details below, let me know in the comments!
The current situation started in Green Lantern Civil Corps. Hal Jordan and the other Green Lanterns ran into Thaross on Thangar and Thaross was fatally wounded in the fight. Before he died, he used his powers to turn the plant Green Lantern called Mogo into a Red Lantern. In a rage, Mogo rammed into Thanagar and destroyed the planet. Out of billions of Thanagarians, only a thousand or so were saved.

Thanagar was destroyed and the remaining Thanagarians were taken to OA. They apparently set up a settlement for them there while they decide what to do next. Then Hawkwoman/Shayera Hol II appeared.
Hawkwoman was off planet when it happened, but returned when she heard. She is currently the leader of the Thanagarians, so as their representative, she went to John Stewart for help. They went to the devastated planet and discovered that the core of the planet was some sort of Nth metal sphere. As they watched, the sphere opened up and a gigantic hawk-like creature made of Nth metal emerged. It was Horus, the God of the Thanagarians (according to Hawkwoman).
It tells Hawkwoman that it will search for a new home for the Thanagarians. When it finds the new home, it will reach out to Hawkwoman in a dream and she should bring the remaining Thanagarians there. With that, it flies off into space.

We next see Horus, just out of the blue, pun intended, in front of Hawkman/Carter Hall III during the DC K.O. event. It tells Hawkman that it would find a new world for those who believed. It gives Hawkman its power to lead the way with his wife Shayera. But no word of a new planet yet.

Finally, in the Green Lantern Corps series, we see the Thanagarians settling on an OA refugee camp called Malaqyte. It appears to be a small planet of some sort but it was difficult to know exactly as it was just named real quick in passing.

And that is where things stand as of February 2026. All of the comics listed were written by Jeremy Adams, except for the last Green Lantern Corps issue. Adams was throwing the Thanagarians into the story at various points in the Green Lantern Corps series, but he has left the series. The last issue was written by new writer Morgan Hampton, and it is difficult to say if he just tied the Thanagarian storyline off with a new refugee camp away from OA's home planet, and they won't be returning. Adams has expressed a desire to write a Hawkman series, but DC Comics has continuously turned it down, so it's anyone's guess if the story about Horus looking for a new planet will continue, or if the story will just be dropped and forgotten like so many other Hawkman storylines over the years. We'lljust have to keep scrounging around DC Comics for any mention of Thanagar and hope that it comes together somewhere, somehow.
Any future updates, it any, will be added and updated in this article, so stay tuned. Again, if you see any mention of the Thanagarians in some of the comics you are reading, let me know in the comment section.
