Isabela Merced Wants a Hawkgirl Movie

Superman is wraping up its run in the theaters and it appears to be the success that James Gunn and company were hoping for. The critics and fan reviews for the movie were pretty good, so we could start seeing some green lights for other projects to start showing up. Isabela Merced's role as Hawkgirl was pretty limited, but she did make an impression with the fans with what she was given to do. The question now is what will come next.

To be clear, there has not been any news or even slight hints from Gunn about what is in store for Merced's Hawkgirl. However, Merced has been plenty vocal about what she hopes will happen next.

The Lanterns series is starting on TV soon and with John Stewart (Aaron Pierre) in the cast, fans are already talking about Hawkgirl showing up in the series or even the two heroes being in a movie together. Merced has also expressed a desire for that to happen. What Gunn has in his plans is anyone's guess, so we'll just have to wait and see.

Superman star says she'd instantly say yes to a solo Hawkgirl movie with James Gunn, who's "prioritizing" quality over "the most money": "And I'm not just saying that to get my own movie"
Merced seems to be speaking hypothetically and doesn't explain if there's even a whispered conversation about a standalone Hawkgirl movie, but if there ever happened to be one, she tells TVLine in a new interview that she would "absolutely" agree to it with James Gunn attached.

Just like Aldis Hodge was willing to spread his wings again after appearing as Hawkman in Black Adam, Merced is also more than willing to have another go, this time with a bigger role, as the Winged Wonder. Whether it ends up as nothing as it did for Hodge's Hawkman, or actually happens is just something that we will have to wait for. But it's great to see how she is ready for the call.

Personally, she is Kendra Saunders, so I hope they keep Hawkman far away from her character. If they do bring in Hawkman, let it be some sort or plantonic relationship so that Hawkman can be reunited with Hawkwoman. If Kendra has to have a love interest, John Stewart is the way to go.

Stay tuned and keep soaring!
