8th Anniversary of Hawkworld!

Commission by Prentis Rollins (Made specifically for Hawkworld)

Hawkworld is celebrating our 8th anniversary today! It all started on Facebook on January 15, 2016. It's been eight years of ups and downs, but overall it has been an amazing time. It's been one of the most unbelievable experiences of my lifetime, and it has soared higher than I ever imagined when I started it. Of course, it would have never gotten off the ground and it wouldn't have lasted this long without all the fellow fans who have joined, followed, and contributed their art, cosplays, figures, comics, and opinions. So much has happened over the last eight years and I'm sure to forget some things but here's a look back at the highlights.

Looking back, a lot has happened over the last eight years. In the abnormal glut of Batman comics, Hawkman, Hawkgirl, and Hawkwoman have managed to appear here and there in the comics and movies. Currently, there is nothing planned for Hawkman or Hawkwoman. Hawkgirl's poorly received series is finally over, but it appears she is currently DC's choice to represent the Hawks. Hawkman is treated rather badly by poor leadership and bad writers at this time, but that's where the fans come in. The fans are the ones who keep the Hawks soaring and let the current decision-makers at DC know what we are hoping for our winged heroes. I hope you will join all the fans who follow Hawkworld across social media and let your opinions be heard so they can know what the fans want.

What do we want? I'm glad you asked that question! Hawkman and Hawkwoman work better as a team, a partnership, and a married couple. Their love and history together are the central themes of their story. When that is lost, the most beautiful and fascinating part of their appeal is lost. We currently have Hawkman, Hawkwoman, and Hawkgirl. I hope that future writers will write them as a team and as a family. No heroes in DC have a history like theirs. If that history can be focused on, and how that history affects their lives and decisions today, we would have a fascinating story. I hope future writers will focus on their history, their family connections, and their current lives to bring us some amazing adventures in the future. Until then, let's keep the Hawks soaring!
