DC Comics 2026 January Solicitations (Hawkman and Hawkgirl)

Here are the two books that I could find that have Hawkman and Hawkgirl in some form. No series for either was announced. Hawkman appears to be out of the DC K.O. thing so that's that. Slim pickins this month.

Hawkman and Hawkgirl made a few unexpected appearances in the comics released on October 22, 2025 so here is a quick rundown!

Gold Hawk of Andrino! Remember him?

Justice League Unlimited No. 12 / Hawkman Vol. V No. 4

Great Gentleman's Ghost! This was an unexpected surprise! I was watching the Comic Boom video where they go over all the releases each week. With all this DC K.O. tie-in stuff going on, I've been on the lookout for any news about the Hawkman vs. Conner Hawke matchup and I was rather surprised at what turned up this week!

DC Finest Hawkman Giveaway Contest!

The 86th anniversary of Hawkman's first appearance is coming up on November 20th! Since I started Hawkworld back in 2016, we have celebrated November 20th as Hawkman Day. Flash Comics No. 1, which featured Hawkman's first appearance, was officially released on November 20, 1939.

Hawkman Refused to be a Dictator. Twice.

World's Finest Comics No. 278 (April 1982)

Hawkman got tossed into a political discussion earlier this month when Absolute Evil No. 1 came out. The issue showed him as a traitor to his fellow heroes and Americans, and then as the murderer of Green Arrow and a full-blown villain assisting the other villains of that universe. Even though the precious DC Trinity are still basically themselves, just under different circumstances, DC completely destroyed the Hawkman of the Absolute universe and made him a despicable character who will probably meet his end badly.

Does This Guy Like Hawkman or Not?

Art by Inhyuk Lee

There's a site called comicbook.com which puts out pretty good articles at times about comics and anything related. I'm sure anyone who reads up on comics news has gone to the site many times. Another article involving Hawkman popped up today so I thought I'd share it because I'm thoroughly confused by what the intent was.

The article is titled "10 Most Important DC Characters Who Aren’t Superman, Batman Or Wonder Woman" and sure enough, Hawkman comes in on the list at No. 10.  "Oh, cool!," I thought. Nice to get some recognition! But then I started reading.

Video of Essential Hawkman and Hawkgirl Comics

A YouTube channel called Comic Belief put together a 16-minute video of a list of essesntial Hawkman and Hawkgirl comics. It starts from 1940 and goes all the way to the recent destruction of Thanagar in the Green Lantern comic. Some comics that I wouldn't have thought of are listed so it's a good list! Check it out!

Jeremy Adams Talks Hawkman and Hawkwoman

I came across this video today of Jeremy Adams talking comics at the New York Comic Con 2025. He mentioned Hawkman and Hawkwoman a few times so I'll put the comments down below (or you can watch the entire video).

Hawkman was Set Up Beautifully, and DC Comics Put It Away

Art by Stjepan Sejic, Bryan Hitch, Mikel Janin

The day was March 15, 2018. That was an exciting day in the history of Hawkman. Washington Post announced the return of our favorite winged wonder. It was going to be written by Robert Venditti and drawn by Bryan Hitch. It was the beginning of a wonderful adventure that lasted almost three years. Hawkman Twitter blew up that day, with many Hawkman fans talking about the new series that was announced. Even Venditti and Hitch were surprised by the reception the news received.

During the Golden Age, Hawkman Covers Sold Better Than Flash Covers

During the 1940s, Hawkman was featured in every Flash Comics issue until it ended at issue No. 104. During the series, Hawkman and Flash took turns being featured on the cover for almost the entire run. There is a YouTube channel called Comic Collector Geek, where the collector talks about his vintage comic collection, and he talks about this a bit.

In a video released on October 9, 2025, he talks about how the covers feauring Hawkman sold better than the Flash covers and gives his reasons why. Pretty interesting. It's brief, but it starts at about the 6:15 mark.

Thanks to u/kurumais for posting this on Hawkworld Reddit!
