DC Comics announced a new event called DC K.O a few weeks ago. We didn't know for sure who would be in the event, but Dan Mora just released a cover of issue No. 1 and yep, Hawkman is in there. Personally, I kind of tired of seeing heroes going up against heroes, and 31 of the heroes here are going to be defeated in some way, so I have to ask, "Why are we doing this?"
DC Reveals The 32 Contenders Going Head-To-Head In DC K.O.We don't have the complete draw yet, so we don't know who Hawkman is facing in the first round. I doubt I'll be picking this one up but I'm sure the fans of DC's precious Trinity (Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman) will be lining up to buy it. Is anyone outside of the Trinity circle excited for this event? How far do you think Hawkman will go?
First issue comes out on October 8.
If it were up to me, I'd use this event to showcase Hawkman's fighting skill gained throughout his many lifetimes. Have him beat opponents through sheer skill, people that on paper he might not look good going against, but Hawkman's able to outfight them. We already know Superman is winning this thing, since it was confirmed to be a "Superman event". I'd have Hawkman be Superman's last opponent before Darkseid, making Hawkman kind of like the old veteran fighter, doing better against Supes than he ought to, having Hawkman teach the lesson to Superman that Supes relies too much on his powers and is overconfident when fighting supposed weaker opponents. But what do I know ..
