Is Hawkgirl actually in Peacemaker Season 2?

 Hawkgirl made an appearance in the trailer for Peacemaker Season 2 a few weeks ago and many people have been talking about her involvement in the Peacemaker series. I have heard that James Gunn himself apparently has said that Mister Terrific and Hawkgirl are added to the series. However, from past experiences, it would be nice to hear something more definite soon. But even then, judging from past DC projects, it's questionable. 

DC's Legends of Tomorrow (2016)

Back in 2015, Hawkgirl appeared in the Flash and Hawkman followed a while later. They then announced the new CW's Legends of Tomorrow show, with Hawkman and Hawkgirl part of the cast. They promoted it for months. 

Hawkman was killed off in the pilot.

As the first season neared its end,Hawkman returned for the last couple of episodes as some kind of mindless slave from the future who was controlled by Vandal Savage, and there were also some news about the Justice Society being in Season 2. Finally something to look forward to again! The heroes finally defeated him and the next adventure was getting ready to start when the Hawks announced that they are leaving since Savage had been defeated. They fly away and not even one minute later, the Justice Society shows up. Anyone who knows anything about the Justice Society would know that Hawkman is a center part of the JSA. But LoT wrote them out right before the team arrived. 

Krypton (2018-19)

Comic-Con 2017: Brainiac, Doomsday, Hawkwoman, Adam Strange to Appear on Krypton TV Series 

Hawkwoman was announced in numerous reports and comic-cons, but never appeared in the first season.  Then before season 2...

Is Hawkwoman Still A Possibility For Krypton? 

At last summer’s Comic-Con International in San Diego, in addition to the announcement that Adam Strange was coming to the upcoming Syfy television series Krypton, there was news that DC Comics character Hawkwoman was also on the way… 

…and then we heard nothing more. 

Following the Krypton panel at the Television Critics Association press tour, we asked Krypton Executive Producer Cameron Welsh if Hawkwoman is still on the table for the show.
“Absolutely,” he told us in the scrum. “Like we say, the door is open. And that’s why we’re so fortunate on this show, working with DC and having Geoff Johns involved, because we have a lot to play with.” 

Hawkwoman never appeared. But hold on! The Thanagarians did! This even got some sites predicting that Hawkman might show up in season 3.  

Krypton May Have Set Up Hawkman For Season 3 

The Thanagarians actually did show up in the last episode of Krypton Season 2. Aired on August 14, 2019

And then two days later, on August 16, 2019.

So no Hawkwoman, no Hawkman, and just one shot of the Thanagarians. This series was just two years of unfulfilled teases for Hawkfans. 

Black Adam (2022) 

Black Adam was finally released after several delays in October 2022. Before the movie was released, there were numeous news and rumors about spin-offs for Hawkman and the Justice Society. It looked pretty promising. 

Shortly after it was released, James Gunn took over the DC movie projects and announced the cancellation of all future projects. 

Personally, I live in Japan and did not see the movie until December 6. There was zero marketing for the film here, and Japan was the last country to finally show it. So by the time I walked into the theater to see Hawkman on the silver screen for the first time, it was already cancelled. I still held hope that maybe, somehow, Hawkman would continue in the new DCU, but no.

There coninued to be some click baitish rumors on other sites into the next year, but nothing came of it. 

DC Reportedly Working on a Hawkman Spin-off Movie 

So when I hear talk about Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced) being in Peacemaker season 2, I'm inclined to brush it off as an empty rumor or promise and expect it to vanish ito nothing.
