The solicitations for October 2025 were released on Friday. Here's a extremely brief rundown of where the Hawks are and may be appearing in October.DC K.O“Heroes will rise. Legends will fall. It’s time for a cosmic throwdown! DC today announced its next comic book event by co-architects Joshua Williamson and Scott Snyder: DC K.O.! This fall, the gloves come off as the greatest superheroes in the universe enter the arena in a thunderous tournament where the stakes are sky-high, and the cost of victory may be too steep to bear. Starting in October, this publishing event puts heroes to the ultimate test of strength, loyalty, and knock-down, drag-out brawls. Which 36 fighters will enter the tournament of champions? Who will rise through the brackets and rival Darkseid against his ever-growing Omega powers? And what sinister secret lies at the absolute heart of Apokolips? Get ready for the most fun you’ll have all year (at a death tournament)!
A universe-shaking five-level gladiatorial arena emerges from the Earth itself, each descending level testing the heroes in brutal and symbolic ways. The goal? Generate enough Omega Energy to rival Darkseid—and crown a new King Omega, a celestial being toward whom the universe bends.”The next big event for DC Comics is apparently something called DC K.O. It looks another heroes vs. heroes story, defeating each other to earn the right to fight Darkseid for whatever reason. Or something like that. As some of the comics sites mentioned, Metal was a Batman event, Death Metal was for Wonder Woman, and now this will probably showcase Superman.Hawkman and Hawkgirl are never mentioned by name, by they appear on the back cover by a variant wraparound by Scott Koblish. (picture at top)DC’s Next Big Event Throws Heroes Into The Arena With Snyder And Williamson’s ‘DC K.O.’I'm somewhere between undecided and hard pass on this one. For Hawk fans, might be better to just let the event start and see if there are reports of some Hawk sightings. But if it is just to see the Hawks defeated by Blue Beetle or Harley Quinn, it's a definite hard pass.Released on October 8 with a bunch of other tie-ins along the way.JSA #12The JSA's back is against the wall as the Nameless Ones have entered our plane of reality. Wotan and the Injustice Society are victorious... but never count out the world's first super-team!There is no mention of the Hawks in the solicitations but they are still a part of this group (I think), so I'll add it so I can call this a list. This series has been a disappointment from a Hawkfan's point of view since the Hawks have been either outside, away from where all the important events are taking place, or just completely missing in action. It appears tha they have been slow in releasing the cover for the series the last couple of months so I'm wondering if it will end pretty soon.Released on October 1st.Absolute Evil #1
Without heroes...without protection...without restraint... there is only ABSOLUTE EVIL.
The emergence of superheroes has caught the attention of the world... and it’s certainly caught the attention of the people who run it. Ra’s al Ghul, Veronica Cale, Elenore Thawne, Hector Hammond, and the mysterious Joker have worked at cross-purposes until now, but this growing threat requires new ways of thinking... and new partnerships. An insidious betrayal from within their ranks is imminent, and if they don’t take action, they’ll lose control of a planet that was built to be their playground!
Superstars Al Ewing and Giuseppe Camuncoli join forces to kickstart the next era of Absolute Universe stories... with several shocking new character reveals, and one big unmissable twist!
I missed this one the first run through. Hawkman is there on the bottom. Looks ominous and not very promising. He could be just cover filler. Happens often. Will and see what others say before I think about getting this one.
And that's it for October. I always go back and take another look because they sometimes add variants later, but October looks pretty bleak for the Hawks. When Black Adam was released, there was a Black Adam-Justice Society movie tie-in series, so I was hoping that Superman's completely new version of Hawkgirl that we have never seen before might make an appearance or two in some tie-ins, but so far nothing.
It looks like November will come and we will officially hit the 5-year mark since the last Hawkman series ended on November 10, 2020. We had a Hawkgirl series a couple years ago but that was probably the worst written anything featuring the Hawks since their orgin in 1939. There are a couple of re-re-releases of the silver age Hawkman comics and the Geoff John series. But that's it. The wait continues. Keep enjoying those back issues!
