Hawkman and Hawkgirl News and Info (October 15-21)

Here are the news and articles that featured or included the Hawks this week.

Top 5 Superheroes of Justice Society of America (Gobookmart)
This included Hawkman so I'll post the link. Any list that leaves out Jay Garrick and Alan Scott from a top JSA member list is not complete in my opinion, but we all have our favorites.

Top 10 Powers Often Found in Superheroes (Gobookmart)
Hawkman is mentioned in the section on flight, naturally. Hawkman was the first DC hero with the power of flight, even before Superman or Green Lantern (Alan Scott). Zatara had the power of levitating a few months before Hawkman appeared, but Hawkman was the first DC hero to have flight as his primary power.

Isabela Merced stuns as Hawkgirl in jaw-dropping image (FanSided)
Fan art of Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl starts appearing and will probably increase as the movie starts filming.

The Son of 2 Justice League Members Just Became DC's Biggest Mystery (ScreenRant)
The first part of the story appeared only in the digital version of Superboy Son of Krypton #6 (final issue), but it appears we will only get the first six pages.  There is no word of it being continued anywhere.

DC's January 2024 Solicitations (Games Radar)
Hawkman is on the cover of Justice Society of America Vol. 1, even though he has no part in the story. Buyer beware! Hawkgirl is on the cover of Green Arrow #8 but it's anyone's guess if she is actually in the issue.

DC: 8 Underrated Justice League Members (GameRant)
Hawkman (and Hawkgirl/Hawkwoman) often show up on these lists. It's a shame, but it is what it is. It probably won't change until the current leaders of DC Comics are gone. Hawkman's power set and abilities offer a lot for DC to draw from, but it has been shoved aside for a few years now. The last time Hawkman was a member of some sort of JL team was in...checking...2014. Wow.

10 Biggest Double Standards In DC Comics (CBR)
Kendra Saunders debuted almost 25 years ago, but DC still hasn't figured out how to use her. It seemed to be on the right track after the Hawkgirl series ended, then again when they brought her back in 2018, but the recent series has really pulled her character back and has made her a psychotic mess. That's my opinion, of course. She could be a truly awesome, badass heroine if they used her right, but that writer has not appeared yet.

   Another disappointing issue.

That's it for this week!
