Reviews for Absolute Superman #17 and JSA

Here are the reviews for JSA No. 17 and Absolute Superman No. 17. In JSA, it appears the Hawks will be written out of the series. They're on "indefinite leave," but I suppose they might still be in the flashback story. In Absolute Superman, Lois said it best about Hawkman. "In a world of *e%#@, you're King %$*@ of *@#%$." I think she's saying "in a world of meadow muffins, you're King Dung of Manure Mountain. I could be wrong.

Anyway, here are some reviews by people who liked the issues.

DC Comics Solicitations 2026 May for Hawkman and Hawkgirl

DC Comics' solicitations for May 2026 were released recently. Unfortunately, there isn't much to report. But it may be short, but report I will.

JSA #19
Release Date: May 6
The Justice Society of America is putting the pieces back together after its tumultuous run-in with the Injustice Society. But before the dust can settle, the Spectre returns with only one driving mission: VENGEANCE!

JSA has been pretty much a bust for the Hawks in this series. Although Hawkgirl (over to the right, third or so back) and Hawkman (way in the back, behind Kid Eternity's legs) are sort of on the cover, it's not guaranteed they will be in the comic, so buy at your own risk.

They have recently had short appearances in World's Finest, Aquaman, and Green Lantern Corps, but there is zero mention of the Hawks in the summaries this month, so nothing to report there.

That's it for May!

Thanagar Updates

Thanagar is going through things. Again. The planet has been destroyed, and Thanagarians are without a home. Again. Since Hawkman and Hawkwoman do not have their own book, it's a challenge to keep up with what is going on (thanks, DC), but I'm going to try to put together the info I can gather and keep up with the current situation in Thanagar.
Thanagar is one of the most famous planets in the DC Universe and it's a bit to see how the editors and writers there just randomly throw things about Thanagar all over the place, making it almost impossible to follow the story. If I'm missing any important details below, let me know in the comments!

Hawkman's Thoughts on Democracy and Tyrants

For those comics fans who are proclaiming that the Absolute Hawkman is "the Hawkman we always knew he was." I don't think they know Hawkman. (From Hawkworld Vol. 2 No. 32, March 1993) Writer: John Ostrander.

"Take away democracy once in this country and it will never come back. You only set an example for other tyrants who will take your place...
...unless you continue to rule to keep them away.
Either way, all you offer is a tyrant."

 THIS is Hawkman.
