Here are some of the art pieces by Joe Kubert that I've come across over the years. Kubert's art never fails to make me stop and admire his work whenever I see it. I will probably never be able to afford an original Kubert piece, but I treasure the signed print I managed to pick up a few years ago, and I will probably continue to always stop and look at the way Kubert drew Hawkman and Hawkwoman when I see his work. Joe Kubert will always be the standard for Hawkman art. Truly one of the greats.

ReplyDeleteAmazing! Is that Gentleman Jim there I see?
ReplyDeleteHere's something I looked up! The legendary comic book artist Joe Kubert illustrated the artwork used on the USPS Hawkman stamp.
ReplyDeleteThe stamp was officially released on July 20, 2006, as part of the highly popular DC Comics Super Heroes commemorative stamp sheet unveiled at San Diego Comic-Con.
The pane of stamps featured two different styles for each hero; for Hawkman, it included a modern character portrait alongside the classic Silver Age comic book cover of The Brave and the Bold #36 (originally published in 1961), which was famously drawn by Kubert.
