Disgusted by what DC Snyder, Aaron, Ewing have done to Hawkman

  Scott Snyder said that the core of the heroes in the Absolute universe would remain the same, but their circumstances would be different. We can see that in his precious Batman and others. But Hawkman? Is this what Snyder thinks is the core of Hawkman? An egotistical, racist MAGAt who works for the villains of this universe? And most fans seem to share that opinion. As a fan of Hawkman for 50 years, I can say he is not those things. I hope Snyder, Aaron, Ewing and whoever else writes this travesty get their money's worth for destroying an iconic character.

There are many instances where Hawkman fought fascism and fought for democracy. He turned down the dictatorship of Thanagar twice because he didn't believe in that system. He marveled at the American Constitution when he arrived on Earth from Thanagar. He has lived countless lives and knows how fascism ends. He would not be the stupid, insane, misguided character we see in Absolute.

Someone said it well, but most comics fans and writers apparently think that "disagreeing with a liberal-arts college playboy makes you literally Hitler." 

But because he was the foil to the liberal Green Arrow, most fans think he is a conservative MAGAt. This is what happens when you destroy a character to fit your narrative. I don't see Hawkman's image recovering from this in any medium.

Hawkman took a huge hit when Bruce Timm and others pulled Hawkgirl away him and hooked her up with John Stewart. Then adding insult to injury, they brought him in as a creepy, schizophrenic weirdo who stalked Hawkgirl. He has never really recovered from that. Seeing how well the Absolute series is selling, this may even cause more damage. If this series comes out in a live-action or animated film, it'll be permanent. And the hero I loved and followed for 50 years will be dead. Good job, DC.
