Hawkman Coming to the DC Absolute Universe in October

 

Absolute Evil was announced a few weeks ago and alert Hawkfans immediately noticed Hawkman on the cover. The villains are having a "go team!" moment, and under thier hands are pictures of heroes that they are going after or have already defeated. Hawkman's picture is there on the bottom left. It's also interesting that his picture is the only one that is not ripped. So what can this mean? He may not be defeated yet. He may be but they didn't bother ripping his picture. He may not even be in the issue at all. Which has happened many, many, many times. 

But then we got some confirmation (thank to Matt B. Lloyd for the heads up!) that Hawkman WILL actually be in the issue. Here is a quote from the PopVerse article. 

Following online speculation, DC confirmed during its presentation at Retailer Day at Rose City Comic Con 2025 that Absolute Hawkman will also be debuting in the Absolute Evil special, although no further information about the character was released. It’s worth noting, however, that DC director of special sales Greg Gustin described the issue as introducing “a couple of new Absolute heroes — or maybe anti-heroes,” so perhaps this new Hawkman isn’t going to be quite as much of the good guy as his regular DCU counterpart.

So there it is. Not only that, but he could be just another Hro Talak (gawd please no) or a Sky Tyrant (Hawkman Vol. V No. 17-22). We currently have a dumbdowned version of Hawkman in the JSA series, and now we'll have to wait and see what they do with Hawkman here. 

DC is revamping Hawkman for the Absolute line this October - and other "heroes - or maybe anti-heroes" with him

Wanted: a writer who res@ects and loves the Hawkman character enough to build him up and build on his legend, rather than tearing him down or making him the bad guy. 

Absolute Evil No. 1 comes out on October 1.
