Reviews of Hawkgirl in Superman (2025)

Superman has finally been released and the reviews and reactions are coming in! I have a collection of Hawkgirl news that I collected from when they announced Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl (click here), but I am in the process of collecting the reviews and reactions of the fans and critics here. Enjoy!
If you have any good reviews for Hawkgirl post the link in the comments and I'll add them!
Caution: There are spoilers ahead, so go see the movie first!

Here is what we DID get. She is a badass fighter, has a kind of friendship with the other Justice GANG members, has organic wings that go in and out, and her mace is pretty awesome. She hangs out at the Hall of Justice, waiting for orders from Max Lord I guess. And she kills.
Why Hawkgirl Kills the President in Superman
Hawkgirl is arguably one of the most interesting characters in James Gunn’s Superman, and Isabela Merced received high praise for her performance. A part of the Justice Gang, Hawkgirl had quite a big part to play in the narrative.
But there was also something very surprising about a particular scene featuring Hawk Girl, wherein she killed the President of Boravia, which few saw coming. So, let’s delve deep into why Hawkgirl kills the President in Superman.

Compared to the rest of her teammates, Hawkgirl has the least amount of screentime, yet her actions in the climactic moments of the movie might prove to be extremely significant for human and Metahuman relations in the Dcu’s future.

Isabela Merced’s Hawkgirl Starts Heated Debate Among Fans
Some gamers view Merced’s Hawkgirl as underdeveloped but full of promise; others agree that she is as misplaced as a loot box in a single-player game. Either way, the convo is not going away anytime soon, especially if DC does put her on more projects.
While Hawkgirl has made her debut in the DC Universe, Hawkman has yet to appear. Thus, a potential spin-off could not only introduce Hawkman but also show Hawkgirl searching for him.

In James Gunn’s Superman, Hawkgirl gets one of the movie’s most surprising scenes. Played by Isabela Merced, Kendra Saunders’ Hawkgirl is a classic DC Comics hero who has debuted in the new DCU alongside two other metahumans protecting Metropolis. However, the movie’s final act sees Hawkgirl making a surprising decision that has made some waves online.

Every Metahuman Featured in Superman, Explained
With wings made of Nth metal and a battle axe always ready, Hawkgirl soars into the action as a fierce warrior in the world of James Gunn’s Superman. Played by Isabela Merced (yep, Dina from The Last of Us), this version of Hawkgirl is a no-nonsense fighter who’s all about action over talk, and is part of the Justice Gang.

Isabela Merced's Hawkgirl Flies High in New 'Superman' Funko Pop After Her Big Screen DC Debut
While Hawkgirl wasn't in Superman a ton, she left a lasting mark on the film with her punch-first-ask-questions-later attitude and her unique fighting style. Each member of the Justice Gang brought something distinct to the film, with Hawkgirl’s wings being a nice visual treat for long-time DC fans.
12 Most Powerful Characters In Superman, Ranked By Power Level
Kendra Saunders is a member of the Justice Gang, a three-turned-four-member band of superheroes who operate under the purview of Maxwell Lord. Although she isn't fleshed out in the space of Superman, Saunders is traditionally a reincarnated Thanagarian (a winged alien race) with a standard smattering of superpowers, including super strength, super speed, and, of course, flight.
Strongest Characters in Superman (2025), Ranked
This winged metahuman loves to screech her way through the battlefield with her terrifying war cry. Armed with her powerful Thanagarian mace, which is indestructible, she flies around with her organic wings to prove why she’s the most ruthless member of the Justice Gang. Hawkgirl has incredible speed, which she uses to reach foreign countries with ease to terrorize those who would do harm on the innocent. Aiding her flight is her mace and super strength, which allows her to practically brutalize anyone who dares worship evil's might.
