Hawkman Comics 1939-2023

Here is a link to a list of all the #Hawkman, #Hawkgirl, #Hawkwoman comics and also comics that include important moments in their history. When did Hawkman first use his mace? When did Hawkgirl change her name to Hawkwoman? When did Kendra first appear? I've tried to include all the issues and important moments in their history, so hopefully this will serve as a reference source for the comic book fans who are looking for the Hawks. Currently, there are over 600 comics on the list. Click the screenshot of the worksheet below and it will take you there. Feel free to ask questions or point out something that I may have missed.

The Home of the Golden Age Carter Hall

Where did Hawkman live during the Golden Age? He is described as a wealthy man living in New York. In Flash Comics No. 3 (March 1940), Hawkman rescues a group of men from an evil scientist and tells them to go to his home where Shiera will be waiting for them. In one panel, we see them getting into a taxi and giving the driver the address: 20 Hudson Terrace.

Final Verdict on Black Adam

Well, the dust has finally settled, and it appears that the Black Adam era is over. Right after Black Adam came out in October 2022, it was announced that the DCEU was over and James Gunn and Peter Safran were taking over the new DCU. Gunn had no plans for Black Adam or Dwayne Johnson for the "first stage" of whatever the DCU is, and it's expected to be a ten-year plan. That means that Black Adam is pretty much done. The movie had almost no marketing where I live (Japan), China banned the movie for something Pierce Brosnan did with the Dalai Lama (apparently), and the movie "critics" hated the movie, so it pretty much crashed and burned. There were talks of spinoffs for some of the Justice Society heroes, including Hawkman, but those rumors have pretty much melted away quicker than dumping a bucket of water on the Wicked Witch of the West.

Hawkgirl Day 2023!

Eighty-two years ago. on April 25, 1941, Shiera Sanders flew for the first time as Hawkgirl, beginning a long career. She was considered a sort of sidekick for Hawkman at first, but over the years she has taken her own place as a popular character in the comics and on the TV cartoon shows, and she is now one of the most recognizable heroines in comics today. From Shiera Saunders to Shayera Thal to Kendra Saunders, Hawkgirl has left her mark in DC Comics no matter which identity she has been given.

Shiera Sanders made her debut on November 10, 1939 along with Carter Hall.Hawkman in Flash Comics No. 1 (cover date January 1940), but she did not appear as Hawkgirl until All-Star Comics No. 5 (cover date June 1941). We celebrate April 25th as her anniversary since that is the official release date of the comic.

There are lots of exciting times ahead for Hawkgirl fans as she will get her own series starting in July! Don't miss it!

Black Adam Review (Immediate Reaction Podcast)

Black Adam was finally released in Japan on December 2. I watched it four times on opening day. After I got home, I made a podcast of the process I went through to get here and my initial thoughts on the movie. A bit rambling maybe, but just a Hawkman talking straight about Hawkman's first appearance on the movie screen. LINK
